About
HISTORY OF ASM AT BYU
On 16 January 1993, the Brigham Young University Student Chapter of the Association for Systems Management was established. It is primarily composed of Information Systems students within the Marriott School of Management; however, ASM welcomes students from all majors including computer science and information technology.
MEMBERS
ASM is designed to be fully complimentary to the B.S. of Information Systems and the Masters of Information Systems Management programs. It is the largest and most active club in BYU’s Marriott School. Our membership consists of a significant majority of the Information Systems program, as well as technology-savvy students from other programs at BYU. Members of ASM want to learn emerging technologies, network with prospective employers, and have fun.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Association for Systems Management (ASM) is a Marriott School student organization that expands students’ knowledge of the IT industry, offering training on new and useful skills. By providing students with guidance in their school and career planning, the ASM keeps students informed and gives them a chance to build relationships, network, and have fun. The ASM is also dedicated to supporting recruiters in publicizing and organizing events. The goal of ASM officers is to provide services to both students and the community by improving awareness of the IT industry.
ACTIVITIES
ASM gives students additional opportunities to learn new technologies by holding regular hands-on training sessions throughout the school year. ASM also invites industry professionals to speak about the IT industry, giving students opportunities to interact and network with IT professionals. In addition, ASM offers a social setting through regular club activities where students can interact and build friendships.
